Puri is one of the popular tourist destinations in Orissa in India and a well-known sea side location. It is also famous as a place for pilgrimage. Day 1: Arrive at Puri
Board a flight to Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa. After arriving in the city, take a car to Puri. It takes around two hours to reach Puri from Bhubaneswar. Puri is also well connected with other parts of India through rail. Trains are available between and places like Kolkata, Cuttack, and Balasore.
After you arrive at Puri, check in to the hotel and relax for some time. Then make a visit to the sea beach. It is a lovely beach made up of golden sand. The beach is ideal for a short stroll. Each evening, there is a small market on the beach from where you can buy local stuff.
In the evening, you can visit the famed Jagannath temple and other temples in the area. The Jagannath temple was built by the Ganga dynasty during the early 10th century and is a part of the famous ‘Char Dham’ pilgrimage sites.
Day 2: Sightseeing to Konark
After breakfast, drive to Konark, the temple of the Sun God. This ancient temple is one of the world heritage sites and is known for the intricate carvings. In the afternoon, go to the Ragurajpur artisan village and see various techniques.
Also visit other tourist attractions like Dhauli peace pagoda, Udaigiri caves, Nandankanan and so on. The Dhauli Peace Pagoda which is famous for the ancient Ashokan rock edicts. Visit the picturesque village of Pipili en route. This village is famous for colorful handicrafts and artifacts of Orissa.
Day 3: Sightseeing to Chilka Lake
After breakfast, go to the Chilka Lake from Puri. It is the largest salt water lake in India. Enjoy a boat ride in the Chilka Lake. Also make a visit to the Nalabana Bird Sanctuary and the tribal villages near the sanctuary.
The trip also includes visit to tribal villages of Birnasingpur and Tenta. Visit the villages and get a feel of Orissan hospitality. Reach Puri in the evening and relax on the beach by the beautiful sea. Stay overnight at the hotel.
